Ballast Welcomes Two New Team Members: Catherine Richmond and Madelyn Mozeleski

Ballast, an independent, employee-owned financial planning and investment management firm, is proud to announce the addition of two new team members: Catherine Richmond, joining as a Financial Advocate, and Madelyn Mozeleski, joining as a Financial Planning Intern.

Catherine Richmond

Catherine Richmond brings a wealth of analytical experience and a strong client-centered approach to her role. After earning a Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences from Northwestern University, Catherine went on to complete a Master of Science (MS) at DePaul University. She then led the cardiology research department at Rush Medical Center in Chicago as an Advanced Practice Nurse (NP-C) before relocating to Lexington in 2011 with her husband, Dr. Tyler Richmond, a Lexington native.

Since relocating, Catherine has served as a Nurse Practitioner at Baptist Health and later as a Nurse Educator for Kaplan, Inc., overseeing nursing education programs nationwide. She has since transitioned her analytical and teaching expertise into financial planning by recently earning her Series 65 license and she is currently pursuing her CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) designation.

In the community, Catherine serves as Vice Chair for the Henry Clay Memorial Foundation, conducts undergraduate alumni interviews for Northwestern University, and enjoys playing tennis and sailing on the Great Lakes, where she grew up. Catherine and her family have lived across from the Henry Clay Estate since 2015 and cherish their roots in Lexington.

Madelyn Mozeleski

Madelyn Mozeleski joins Ballast as a Financial Planning Intern. Originally from Huntsville, Alabama, Madelyn’s upbringing in a military family took her across the country before she settled in Kentucky. She earned her undergraduate degree in Finance from Morehead State University, where she was a four-year member of the women’s soccer team. Currently, she is pursuing a dual JD/MBA at the University of Kentucky.

At Ballast, Madelyn will gain hands-on experience in financial and estate planning, shadowing advisors and contributing to client service initiatives. Outside of work and academics, she enjoys running, staying active, and spending time with friends and family.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Catherine and Madelyn to the Ballast team,” said John Boardman, Founder and CEO of Ballast. “Catherine’s expertise and passion for helping others, paired with Madelyn’s sharpness and drive, align perfectly with our mission to provide thoughtful, balanced financial guidance.”
