Catherine Richmond brings a highly analytical, client-centered approach to her work at Ballast, where she helps clients navigate complex financial decisions and develop thoughtful strategies aligned with their goals. She brings a thoughtful, analytical approach to financial planning, focusing on understanding each client’s goals and helping them make informed decisions. 

After earning a BS from Northwestern University and a Masters from DePaul University, Catherine began her career at Rush Medical Center in Chicago. She led the research department where she managed budgets and helped recover lost funding during a challenging period, strengthening her skills in financial stewardship, analysis, and problem-solving. 

After relocating to Lexington in 2011, Catherine served as a Nurse Educator with Kaplan, Inc., where she helped develop educational programs used nationwide and created her own test preparation brand. She now brings that same analytical and teaching background to financial planning at Ballast. She has also earned her Series 65 license.  

Catherine’s approach is grounded in listening carefully, simplifying complex information, and helping clients make informed decisions with confidence. She believes effective financial planning is ultimately about connecting the numbers to the life each client wants to build.

Outside of work, Catherine is an avid tennis player and enjoys sailing on the Great Lakes, where she grew up.
